Fee Policy

Choosing a counselor or Spiritual Director should be based on competency and compatibility as well as financial considerations. WitnessTree does not take insurance for reasons enumerated below, so the first visit is complimentary. This will give us a chance to get to know each other and decide if the therapeutic relationship can be beneficial to you. In these hard economic times, paying privately may seem to be a hardship, and often times it is. Mental and spiritual health is a value one needs to prioritize along with the other needs in life.

While much of what is provided at WitnessTree is not covered by insurance, Camille has made an ethical choice not to accept insurance for counseling. All fees are arranged privately. Not accepting insurance means that privacy and confidentiality are assured since no third party has access to records. It means that anyone can be seen whenever—and for as long as—they find it beneficial, without artificial limits imposed by insurance companies. Frequency and duration of the relationship will depend on individual needs, not impersonal scales and rules. And it means that no one needs to be assigned a "mental health" diagnoses just so WitnessTree can get paid. We can deal with the issues people face in life as bumps in the road, not as an "illness."

Camille considers her services to be in partnership with those she serves, so fees and frequency of service are worked out within the context of that partnership. Sessions may be set for every week, every other week, or whatever the individual or couple seems to need and can afford.
&Mac183; The basic fee for individuals and couples is $45-$75 per clinical hour, negotiated on a sliding fee scale.
&Mac183; E-mail journaling may be incorporated into fees for face to face sessions (for example, a monthly fee that includes one office visit and weekly e-mails),
&Mac183; Or, fee for e-mail journaling may be based on time per event rate if answer is required.
&Mac183; Family counseling or consultation sessions are charged at $75 per clinical hour because of the increased complexity and demands on the therapist. Family members can divide the cost.
&Mac183; Other fees, for workshops, classes, retreats, etc. will be posted with the descriptions of those services.

While WitnessTree needs to be supported financially as does any other business, Camille’s personal ethics also regard the needs of the people she works with and tries to strike a balance that is fair to both. It is often less expensive (and healthier!) in the long run to seek help and guidance when problems are relatively small. There are more options for dealing with them, and it often takes fewer sessions to sort through them.

Charges for e-mail journaling may be incorporated into face to face sessions, or based on frequency and time required for responding. This is one way that the number of in-office sessions (and therefore the cost) can be reduced.
